How it works

Install, pair, and ask

Installation takes a Slack workspace admin and a Rankability organization admin. Serena never chooses an organization from message text; every request stays bound to the organization approved during pairing.

    Install the app

    Select Add to Slack, review the requested permissions, and approve Serena for the workspace.

    Pair Rankability

    Sign in to Rankability, select the correct organization, and confirm the workspace-to-organization pairing.

  3. 3

    Start a conversation

    Open Serena under Apps for a direct message, or add Serena to a channel with /invite @Serena.

  4. 4

    Mention and follow up

    In a channel, mention @Serena with your question. Continue in the thread so the context stays together.

What triggers a response

  • Direct messages: send a message to Serena from the Apps section.
  • Channel mentions: add Serena to the channel, then include @Serena in the message.
  • Thread replies: reply in Serena's thread to continue the same conversation.
  • Attached images: Serena can inspect images deliberately attached to a DM or mention.

What Serena does not read

  • Serena does not monitor ordinary channel conversation.
  • Serena does not search public or private channel history.
  • Serena does not enumerate workspace users.
  • Proactive Slack digests and alerts are off by default.

Privacy, control, and support

Slack messages sent directly to Serena, attached images, workspace identifiers, and the relevant paired Rankability data are processed to answer the request. Bot tokens are encrypted at rest. Disconnect the workspace at any time from Rankability Settings → Connected apps.
