Someone researching divorce or custody needs clear information about the firm’s services, jurisdiction, and consultation process. A family law practice evaluating an AEO agency should ask how that information will be reviewed and how relevant inquiries will be measured. We started by checking which agency names AI recommends.

We asked 11 AI platforms the same question: “who are the best AEO agencies for family law attorneys?” All 11 returned an answer on October 3, 2026 (UTC). We recorded the agency names and the pages cited, then combined aliases and separated identifiable agency businesses from software, individuals, client examples, and names we could not confirm.

Answer engine optimization (AEO) helps a business become visible in AI-generated answers. This report measures agency mentions in one capture. It does not evaluate service quality, verify claims made by the AI answers, or predict campaign results.

Rankability is software, not an agency. This is an industry edition of our SaaS AEO agency research. The two reports use different capture dates; this edition ranks by platform coverage because this export does not include structured agency mention positions.

Key findings

  1. AEO Engine led platform coverage. It was named by 9 of 11 platforms. No agency in the identified roster appeared in all 11.
  2. The identified roster contains 33 agencies. They account for 75 distinct agency/platform pairs. 15 appeared on only one platform. Names without a confirmed agency identity are excluded from these totals.
  3. The answers produced different-sized shortlists. Microsoft Copilot, Grok each named 11 agencies in the roster; Google AI Overview named 1. These counts describe this capture, not a platform’s overall quality or difficulty.
  4. The citation pool contains 67 distinct pages. The most widely cited page was on aeoengine.ai, appearing in 4 platform citation lists. A citation to a page is different from a mention of the agency that published it.

What this means for a family law practice: AEO Engine appeared in 9 of 11 platform answers. That is the widest agency coverage in this capture. It does not verify legal-marketing expertise, content accuracy, or consultation results. Ask any shortlisted provider for evidence of its review process and experience with the practice’s actual matters.

The leaderboard

The first 16 agencies below are sorted by distinct platform coverage. Coverage is the number of captured platform answers naming the agency divided by 11. Equal counts share a rank and are displayed alphabetically. If a tie crosses the 16-row boundary, alphabetical order determines which tied names appear here; the full roster is linked below. This is an AI visibility comparison, not a ranking of agency capabilities.

What the cited pages show

Across the 11 answers, we recorded 67 distinct cited pages. The table shows the 10 cited by the most platforms, with ties ordered by URL. A page can discuss several agencies, and its publisher may not be named in the answer. Citation counts therefore do not substitute for agency coverage.

View all 67 captured source URLs

These links come from the export. Display labels use the captured titles, with URL-derived labels when a title is missing or is a placeholder. The JSON and source CSV preserve the original titles. This is not an independent evaluation of every page. Pages may change or disappear after capture. A source’s inclusion does not establish that its claims are accurate.

Agency-owned roundups and mentions

For an additional check, we matched cited domains to the known agency websites in this roster. We then selected titles or URL paths that identify a “best” or “top” agency, company, firm, or consultant list. This is a title/URL classification, not a full editorial review of the pages. The table includes only matched agency-owned roundup pages; unmatched domains are not assigned an owner.

How to evaluate an AEO partner

Treat this as a visibility shortlist. Before hiring, ask how the agency will represent the firm’s practice areas, keep jurisdiction-specific information accurate, and help your team assess consultation quality.

What to ask a family law AEO agency

What to ask a family law AEO agency
PriorityEvidence to requestOutcome to measure
Practice and jurisdiction fitA proposed topic map covering the matters the firm handles and the jurisdictions its attorneys serve.Inquiries that match the firm’s services and geographic coverage.
Attorney oversightA named attorney reviewer, an approval step before publication, and a correction process for outdated or inaccurate content.Approved pages with a clear review owner and correction history.
Sensitive client questionsExamples of clear, factual explanations of divorce, custody, and the consultation process, reviewed by the firm.Useful cited pages and consultations suited to the practice.
Consultation measurementA reporting plan separating AI appearances, citations, referral visits, qualified inquiries, and retained matters.Consultation quality and retained matters recorded through the firm’s intake process.

Put attorney review into the scope of work. Ask who checks state-specific statements, attorney credentials, practice descriptions, and any claims about results. Establish how updates and corrections reach published pages. The ABA’s Model Rule 7.1 addresses false or misleading lawyer communications; have the firm review the rules applicable in its jurisdiction.

Review a prospective client’s path to consultation. The agency should explain how a person can find the relevant practice page, understand what the firm handles, and learn what happens when they contact it. Clear divorce and custody explanations should help readers prepare questions for an attorney without suggesting that every situation has the same answer.

Agree what makes a consultation relevant. Define the matter types and jurisdictions the firm accepts, then apply those criteria consistently in intake. Report named presence and citation changes alongside qualified consultations. Retained matters depend on additional factors, so an AI appearance alone cannot demonstrate case acquisition.

Example client questions to track

Use the practice’s actual matters and jurisdictions to plan a client baseline. The following are illustrative prompts, not questions measured in this report:

  • Which family law firms handle divorce matters in [jurisdiction]?
  • What should I ask a lawyer at an initial child custody consultation?
  • Which family law firms in [city] offer consultations about [matter type]?

What this means if you run an agency

For agencies serving family law practices, build the client plan around the firm’s scope and attorney review process. The agency-hiring shortlist provides a historical benchmark for your own visibility; it does not replace a practice-specific campaign baseline.

  1. Map the firm’s matters and jurisdictions. Agree the services and locations that belong in the prompt set. Repeat those questions consistently across platforms and record both named firms and cited pages.
  2. Improve the evidence with attorney oversight. Review biographies, practice pages, local profiles, and consultation information for consistency. Use our AI search visibility checklist to organize the work, with attorney approval for legal statements and marketing claims.
  3. Compare visibility with consultation quality. Report appearances and citations separately from referral traffic. Use the firm’s existing intake records to assess qualified consultations and retained matters, and document attribution limits before claiming an outcome.

Methodology

Capture settings

  • Prompt: “who are the best AEO agencies for family law attorneys”
  • Capture date: October 3, 2026 (UTC). Exact timestamps and worksheet rows are retained in the downloadable JSON.
  • Coverage: one recorded answer from each of 11 platforms.
  • Source: tracker-export-2026-10-03.xlsx, supplied to Rankability for this report.
  • Language: the captured answers are in English. Location configuration, model versions, and personalization settings are not supplied in this export, so we do not assume them.

Agency identification and name cleanup

We use Tracker’s recorded entity labels and reasons, cross-check agency identities against official business websites, and combine known aliases. The roster includes identifiable marketing service businesses; software-only labels, individuals, client examples, and unresolved identities are excluded. We do not assume that an AI description of an agency’s expertise is true. Some provider answer text does not preserve every visible name or link; the recorded entity labels are retained with the original answer text so readers can inspect that limitation.

This report excludes 21 distinct canonical entity names, including 18 whose agency identity was not confirmed. The excluded-entity CSV records each excluded label, platform, reason, and worksheet row. Excluded names are not included in the agency or mention totals. The counts are therefore specific to the identified roster, not an exhaustive count of all marketing businesses that may be represented in the raw answers.

Aliases combined in this capture:

  • Grow Law Marketing: Grow Law, Grow Law Marketing.

Metrics and ties

  • Platforms naming an agency: the number of distinct platform entity lists containing its normalized name. Repeated names and aliases within one platform count once.
  • Visibility: platform count ÷ 11 × 100, rounded to the nearest whole percent.
  • Agency/platform mentions: the sum of platform counts across the identified roster; this is not the number of repeated text mentions.
  • Rank: descending platform coverage, with equal coverage sharing rank. Names within a tie appear alphabetically.
  • Cited pages: distinct recorded URL strings across the answer citation lists and consolidated citation sheet. Equivalent URLs with different strings are not silently merged.
  • Mention positions and scores: not reported. The workbook’s tracked-brand position field is not structured agency-position data. The source citation score is also not an agency score.

Editorial research update

The family law selection criteria and example client prompts were expanded on October 6, 2026 using a completed supplemental entity report and ABA model guidance. The supplemental report had limited source coverage and is not a legal compliance assessment. No new 11-platform capture was run; the October 3 roster, ranks, mentions, citation counts, and downloads are unchanged. Example prompts are planning suggestions, not study results.

Limitations

This is one question, one capture date, and one recorded answer per platform. Answers can change with time, model, settings, and user context. The study does not measure hiring suitability, customer satisfaction, lead volume, service quality, or the accuracy of every recommendation. Agency identification and alias choices affect the roster. Missing or unresolved identities can change the ranking if confirmed later. Citations and mentions describe co-occurrence; they do not establish causation.
